Why the need?

Ever since the British Council closed down the British Council Library in Lucknow, the haven for scholars-- that Literary Mecca which was once the watering hole of scholars, readers, book lovers and other uninitiated searching for the written word, Lucknow, the literary Mecca, that Lakhnau once hailed as the Paris of the East, has been devoid of that watering hole.
An attempt, made to revive the chapter, in 2003 failed since I myself, a Chevening Scholar, Batch of 1999, was, soon after forced by circumstance to concentrate more on my journalistic abilities and skills and career building than keeping track of wassup with other scholars.
Mea Culpa.
But then it dawned on me-- why do we need to have a geographical centre at all. As a member of the Lko chapter of Caferati and Ryze-- the existence of a bloggers world created that watering hole in cyberspace-- one that today's youngsters can understand and seek the Holy Grail from.
